The Tambopata Chemical Ecology Institute was created in 2005 as a unique partnership between a university, the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP) and a private business, the Explorer's Inn. The university leases part of the Explorer's Inn resort in Tambopata National Reserve in Amazonian Peru; in this facility it maintains conference rooms, a small library, and a wet lab. In return the Explorer’s Inn welcomes scientific visitors, providing excellent rustic accommodations at a reduced rate and allowing approved scientific studies to be conducted on its property.
